| In April of last year - as part of the Grand Slam for Youth Baseball community outreach program - Minute Maid? and the Houston Astros? have committed to refurbish one youth ball field a year for 27 years. |
 |
| This spring, members of Minute Maid and the Astros organizations, along with helping hands from the City of Houston and the local community, are "digging in" - literally - with shovels and hammers, volunteering their time and offering "sweat equity" as part of the improvement effort for year two's park - the Youth Ball Field at the Northeast Family YMCA - to be dedicated April 2, 2004.
Dedication ceremonies were held on Friday, April 2. In attendance were Mike Saint John, Senior VP Minute Maid; Drayton McLane, Houston Astros owner; Larry Kellner, President/COO Continental Airlines and Chariman, Greater Houston YMCA Board of Directors; Demetta Landry, Executive Director, Northeast Family YMCA and Houston Astro pitcher Andy Pettitte along with Baseball Hall of Fame announcer, Milo Hamilton.
