GRAND SLAM FOR YOUTH BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Recipients of the $2,500 College Scholarships Both Members of
Houstons Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities (RBI) Program
The makers of Minute Maid and the Houston Astros recently announced the Grand Slam for Youth Baseball (GSFYB) Scholarship program to assist Houston-area high school senior boys and girls with college expenses. The two organizations will fund and support up to two $2,500 scholarships per year. In the inaugural year of the GSFYB Scholarship program, qualified applicants were selected from senior boys and/or girls participating in Houstons Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities (RBI) program.

The winners of the first GSFYB Scholarships were Jameson Lewis (Texas Southern University/Galveston Ball High School) and Roxanne Barron (Grambling University/Barbara Jordan High School), each receiving a cash grant of $2,500 to defer first-year college expenses. On August 19, Lewis and Barron were treated to an up-close-and-personal visit to the Astros batting practice prior to the Astros game with the Milwaukee Brewers before being introduced to the fans during
pre-game ceremonies.
